Getting started with LaTeX

My postgraduate programme expects me to write a series of essays and reports. Although I got good results with MS Word for my bachelor thesis, it took a solid amount of fiddling and tweaking until the result looked right. The WYSIWYG editor of word just never gives me a feeling of being fully in control about  my document.
I therefore decided to try out LaTeX, which is known to be popular for all kinds of academic writing. (more…)

Try Dropbox – get 250 MB bonus

Dropbox is a great tool to store, synchronize and share your files. Think of it as a free USB flash stick on the web. It’s perfect if you’re working collaboratively on files or just need a simple and easy way to synchronize stuff across multiple computers.

Here is what Dropbox says about itself:

Dropbox is a free app that syncs your files across your computers and the web. It’s available for Mac, Windows, and Linux. After installing, you’ll be able to:

  • Make changes on one computer and see them instantly on others.
  • Get to all of your files from anywhere you have Internet.
  • Collaborate on team projects or share your files straight from your computer.
  • Restore files you’ve deleted, or go back to previous versions.

I highly recommend giving it a try. The free version gives you 2 GB of storage, which is plenty for standard things like text or code files. If you use this referer link you (and I) get 250 MB bonus, so about 2.2 GB total.
